Stationary Engine Piguet
Description
Built in 1899, this engine was the star attraction of the ‘1900 Paris Exposition’.
This type of engine was conceived and developed primarily to produce energy to be supplied to mills in the 19th century. Initially, it was used to set the various machines in motion via drive belts and, later on, it was used to power electricity generation units that were connected to each type of work machinery.
The first major land reclamation works in our region were made possible by introducing such machines.
Franco purchased this tractor in Mont-de-Marsan, south of Bordeux, France, in 2003.
The original engine was in good condition and was installed on a moving floor. After carefully carrying out mechanical repairs, it became part of the collection and is now in perfect working order.
